The controllers both works fine for other games with no external programs running and for the PS4 controller again with OR without steam controller functionality for PS4 controllers enabled. Downloading and trying to use DS4 windows here to assign a deadzone to the stick (assuming the game is just programmed stupidly) is completely ignored by the game.
Attempting to rebind them fails because it always wants to input right stick up no matter what I press. My PS4 controller (with steam controller functionality disabled) spins the camera and all the controls are mapped incorrectly despite them being just fine for the steam controller. I cannot get my steam controller to work in DW8 without it ignoring first inputs (cant hold stick then press attack).
